1. Do my ‘free spaces’ have to be in Montgomery County?

No; while Montgomery County has plenty of parks, trails, and historic sites to explore, your free spaces can occur in other counties or even states.

2. When will I get my prize?

You can expect prizes within a few weeks of completion.

3. What are the prizes?

Achievement level earnings are cumulative. 

• 5 trails: Shoe pocket
• 10 trails: Montco Trail Challenge pin
• 15 or more trails: Visor

6. Why don’t you have more trash cans?

Trashcans are not always possible to place along the entire length of a trail. Always plan to carry out the trash you carry into the park or trail. Bring a trash bag with you when you bring water bottles, snacks, or any trash to the parks and trails. This will help to keep Montco parks and trail beautiful!

7. What do the symbols look like?

Each park or trail has its own unique animal symbol. While the animal will vary, the symbols all have the same format.

8. Do I have to complete the whole trail for credit?

No; walk, bike, or run as much as you can.

9. How can I find trailheads easily?

You can check our Trailheads Map or search using Google Maps. For example, if you wanted to search for trailheads along the Perkiomen Trail follow these steps:

1. Open the Google Maps app on your phone or on a computer.

    2. Search for the trail you want to visit by typing in the trail name followed by “trailheads” “Perkiomen Trailheads”
