LANSDALE, PA—The Peter Wentz Farmstead’s annual Candlelight Event has been rescheduled. Come spend a lovely winter’s eve with us on Saturday, January 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The soft glow of lanterns will guide you as you make your way towards the Wentz’s home. Each room is lit only by candlelight; visitors will see what life would have looked like on a dark winter’s night before electricity. Enjoy the dulcet tones of old-time music performed by Wendi and Rik Bourne as you tour the 1758 historic house.
As you exit the house, the delicious smell of warm food will surely draw you into our Summer Kitchen where you can watch an 18th century cooking demonstration. Then, head over to the Museum Shop to check out our stock of unique and interesting items. The holidays may be over, but visitors can still expect a visit from the Belsnickel. This fur-clad, Pennsylvania German counterpart to Santa Claus used to travel around Dutch Country to see which children were naughty or nice. Our Belsnickel may look intimidating, but we promise he’s friendly. Kids brave enough to speak to him may even get a treat!
Step back in time with this picturesque look at a quiet winter’s night in colonial Pennsylvania. We hope to see you there!
All ages are welcome to participate and visitors do NOT need to register to take a house tour. This event is free, but donations are welcome.
