NORRISTOWN, PA—Join the Montgomery County Orphans’ Court and Department of Health and Human Services Office of Children and Youth for a celebration of National Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Montgomery County Courthouse, Courtroom A, located at 2 E. Airy Street, Norristown, PA 19404.
National Adoption Day is a collective effort to raise awareness of children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States. More than 113,000 children in the United States foster care system are waiting to be adopted and more than 2,500 children in Pennsylvania are currently awaiting a permanent home.
In an effort to bring attention to the children who are in need of a family and to honor those families who have opened their hearts and home to a foster child in our community, the Orphans’ Court and the Office of Children and Youth are sponsoring a special day for adoption finalizations of three local children from foster care on Nov. 17.
This event will not only honor our adoptive families but also will bring community awareness to foster care, adoption, and the importance of permanency in the life of a child.
“I am delighted and honored to participate in a celebration of National Adoption Day this year,” said the Honorable Judge Lois Murphy. “Adoptions are one of the most meaningful and important things that we do as a Court – helping children to find permanence in safe, secure, and loving homes with their adoptive parents.”
We urge all citizens to join in a national effort to raise awareness about the importance of adoption and consider making a commitment to a child in need. For more information about fostering and adopting in Montgomery County, visit the Orphans’ Court and the Office of Children and Youth.
