NORRISTOWN, PA—Around 12:30 p.m. on October 21, 2023, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office was dispatched to a multiple-vehicle crash with intense fire on I-476 northbound, near mile marker 26, in Worcester Township. The vehicles involved were reported to be a private sedan, a work van, and a tanker truck hauling jet fuel.
The Coroner's Office participated in a multi-agency investigation, including state and local law enforcement, multiple fire and EMS agencies, and the county's hazmat team.
Three bodies were recovered from the wreckage. The Coroner's Office is charged with positively identifying the victims, ensuring the legal next-of-kin has been notified of the deaths, and determining the cause and manner of death through investigation, examination, and forensic testing.
The deceased are positively identified as:
- James Achey, 57, of Seaford, DE
- Suzette Achey, 52, of Seaford, DE
- William Ramos, 63, of Perth Amboy, NJ
The cause and manner of death for all three victims are currently pending investigation.
