Public Input Sought for Green Lane Park Master Plan Update

GREEN LANE, PA – Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites has announced a series of public meetings and other interactive public feedback tools to inform the master plan update for Green Lane Park. All interested citizens are invited to attend and provide feedback.

Public input on potential improvements to enhance and protect Green Lane Park’s recreational amenities will be accepted during four public meetings over the next year. Park users can also provide feedback through completing an online survey, adding to a Wikimap, or contributing to the iNaturalist and eBird apps for Green Lane Park.

The second public meeting will be held as a hybrid meeting (both in-person and virtual) on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The in-person meeting will take place in Red Hill Fire Hall at 82 E. 5th St. Red Hill, PA 18076. Residents can check the County website for the virtual link and additional details and information. Additional hybrid meetings will be held in December 2023 and March 2024.

The County has retained Simone Collins Landscape Architecture of Norristown as lead consultant and is being assisted by Resource Environmental Services, Seiler + Drury Architects and Patrick Stasio, CPRP, to assist the County in developing the plan.

The 16-month long public planning process for the master plan update began in January 2023 and will conclude in April 2024. The Master Plan project is partially funded by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnership Program administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.

The park is Montgomery County’s largest park, at approximately 3,400 acres, and is home to a variety of landscapes and three bodies of water – Green Lane Reservoir, Deep Creek Lake, and Knight Lake. Today's Green Lane Park is the result of Montgomery County and AQUA America’s collaborative efforts over a 40-year period.

The park offers a variety of year-round, outdoor activities and programs. Park visitors can enjoy fishing, boating (including boat rentals), family and group camping, picnicking, 25 miles of trails for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking, as well as two children's playgrounds. Winter enthusiasts can cross-country ski, ice fish or go ice skating, weather permitting. The park also offers summer concerts and family-oriented, environmental education programs.
