NORRISTOWN, PA – The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) will be hosting a public open house for Section B (Belvoir Road to Chemical Road) of the Ridge Pike Improvement Project on September 7, 2023 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Greater Plymouth Community Center at 2910 Jolly Road in Plymouth Township.
The open house will offer an opportunity for the public to learn about the construction phasing and ask the project team questions. After many years of planning, Montgomery County awarded a $39 million construction contract to J.D. Eckman, Inc. on April 27, 2023 and issued its Notice to Proceed on July 24, 2023.
Section B of the Ridge Pike Improvement Project consists of a full-depth reconstruction of Ridge Pike, with a widening to five lanes that will include a center turn lane between Belvoir Road and Alan Wood Road. This project will also replace County bridge #257, which runs over the Norfolk Southern railroad; add new turning movements at the I-476 interchange; and remove the jug handle at Alan Wood Road. Additionally, this project will reconstruct the existing bridges over I-476 and Plymouth Creek—along with improving sidewalks, bus stops, and stormwater management along the corridor.
