NORRISTOWN, PA – The Montgomery County Planning Commission is hosting a virtual webinar on the County’s hazard mitigation plan on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 4 to 5 p.m. Meeting participants will hear a progress report on the 2022 hazard mitigation plan update and be able to provide input on the mitigation strategy goals and actions. Public input is important and will result in a more comprehensive plan.
The hazard mitigation plan assesses threats to Montgomery County such as flooding, cyberattacks, opioids, and pandemics and increases awareness about these threats. The plan then presents a mitigation strategy with goals and actions to address these threats. The mitigation strategy currently is being reviewed and revised, and participants will have an opportunity to submit comments. A hazard mitigation plan, approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is essential for the county to receive funding from FEMA.
Registration is required to receive the Zoom meeting information. Visit the county website to view the current plan goals and actions, learn more about the plan, and register for the webinar.
