NORRISTOWN, PA – Montgomery County has announced pre-construction activities will begin on Ridge Pike between Crescent Avenue and Northwestern Avenue starting on Monday, July 18, 2022. Single lane closures with flagging will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from July 18-22 in various locations throughout the corridor for tree clearing. The public is urged to use caution while traveling in construction zones.
This work is being done in preparation for construction on Section D of the Ridge Pike Improvement Project from Crescent Avenue to Philadelphia. Located in Whitemarsh and Springfield Townships, this project includes a full-depth roadway reconstruction that improves safety and reduces congestion. The project will add traffic signals at Crescent and Barren Hill Roads, add an eastbound through lane between Harts Lane and Northwestern Avenue, and add much-needed stormwater management facilities.
The project will also improve pedestrian safety and transit accessibility by providing a continuous sidewalk along the southwestern side of the road and consolidating SEPTA bus stops and making them ADA compliant.
Residents can stay up to date on the project or sign up for email alerts by visiting www.ridgepikeproject.com. Construction on the Ridge Pike Section D project between Crescent Avenue and Northwestern Avenue is expected to last through 2024.
