2022 PS_Hot topics Masthead 850x623

The Montgomery County Planning Commission (MCPC) invites the public to attend a free webinar focused on important and timely planning issues facing Montco communities. The webinar will take place on May 24, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is required to receive the webinar Zoom information.

Join us for succinct but substantial presentations on three topics from MCPC staff and special guest speakers. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss the following topics:

Successful Infill Development
Many communities are seeing increased demand for new development and redevelopment in already developed places. Hear about the benefits and challenges of infill development and solutions to preserving community character while allowing for increases in density and intensity of land use.

Electric Vehicles Trends & Land Use
Montgomery County residents already own thousands of electric vehicles. Learn about the technological trends driving this growth, and explore the impacts of this technology on our land use decisions. Take a look at “a day in the life” of an electric vehicle owner.

Innovative Ordinance Testing
Learn how MCPC’s ordinance testing process, involving an innovative approach using actual development sites and a collaborative charrette process, can assist municipalities in preparing ordinances. Hear from a local municipality that successfully implemented this approach, which led to important code changes and encouraged public-private partnerships.

This event is being provided as part of Planning Smarter Montco 2022, a Montgomery County initiative by MCPC that offers planning education and outreach. The hot topics event corresponds to the Sustainable Places theme contained in Montco 2040: A Shared Vision, Montgomery County’s nationally awarded comprehensive plan. Register at www.montcopa.org/PlanningSmarter.
