NORRISTOWN, PA – The Montgomery County Board of Elections wants to make residents aware of the upcoming deadlines to register to vote and apply to vote by mail.
“We encourage everyone to check their voter registration. Every election is important. The offices on the ballot this year impact education, the justice system and everyday quality of life issues,” said Kenneth E. Lawrence Jr., Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Elections.
2021 General Election Deadlines:
- Monday, October 18, 2021: Last day to register to vote in the General Election
- Tuesday, October 26, 2021 by 5 p.m.: Last day to apply for mail-in or absentee ballots
- Tuesday, November 2, 2021: General Election Day, polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, November 9, 2021: Last day to receive military and overseas absentee ballots
Registering to Vote & Updating Voter Information: Residents must be registered to vote or make any changes or updates to their voter registration by October 18, 2021 to vote in the General Election on November 2, 2021. To check your voter registration information, visit www.montcopa.org/VoterRegistration.
Absentee & Mail-In Ballots: Residents must apply to vote by mail by October 26. Ballots are being mailed daily to voters who have been approved. Sample ballots can be viewed at www.montcopa.org/VoterServices.
Secure Ballot Drop Boxes: Eleven secure ballot drop boxes will be available starting on October 16 for residents to drop off completed mail-in ballots and absentee ballots. Ballots placed in the secure ballot boxes will be delivered daily to Montgomery County Voter Services by County sheriffs, and date stamped when they are received.
Satellite Voter Services Offices: The County will operate satellite offices in Lansdale, Willow Grove, Pottstown & Lower Merion. Any resident can visit an office location to register to vote or update their voter registration (by October 18), apply to vote by mail, or receive their mail in ballot “on demand.” No appointments are needed. Voters can also return their mail-in or absentee ballot to a satellite office during operating hours. The Voter Services primary office at One Montgomery Plaza in Norristown can also provide these services from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; and from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday October 16 and 23. The primary office will also be open until 5 p.m. on October 26 which is the deadline to apply for mail-in or absentee ballots.

Voting in Person: Residents who plan to vote in person can visit www.montcopa.org/VoteInPerson to find their polling location, answers to frequently asked questions, and information about the role of each person working within a polling location. The General Election will be held on November 2, 2021, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
