Montgomery County Hosting Walk-up Hiring Open House for 9-1-1 Telecommunicators

NORRISTOWN, PA – The Montgomery County Department of Public Safety and the Montgomery County Department of Human Resources are inviting interested candidates for the role of 9-1-1 Telecommunicator to a walk-up hiring open house this Saturday, September 18, 2021.

No pre-registration is needed, job applications will be available on site. Free parking is available at the facility. All visitors must check-in with security at the main gate. 

Anyone interested in applying should bring a valid driver’s license. During the event, applicants will be able to fill out an application and take an employment test. Candidates who are successful on the test may be invited to participate in an interview and listen to emergency calls and dispatches during a “sit-along” in the Emergency Communications Center. The application process typically takes between 3-4 hours for successful candidates.

9-1-1 Telecommunicators are trained to receive calls from the public and to accurately assign requests for police, fire, emergency medical units, and other public safety resources. For a full job description, click here.

For those unable to make the hiring event, applications are available online or in person at the Montgomery County Department of Human Resources located at One Montgomery Plaza, 425 Swede Street, 7th Floor, Norristown, PA 19401. All applications must be submitted online or returned in person to the Human Resources Office.
