NORRISTOWN, PA – The
Montgomery County Commissioners today cut the ribbon on the One Montgomery Plaza in Norristown to mark the completion of the exterior reskin project. Norristown’s tallest building now boasts a modern façade, updated safety and accessibility features, and new outdoor seating.
“Montgomery County is committed to modernizing our campus for the next century. The completion of the One Montgomery Plaza facade replacement project is a large step in that direction,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Commissioners. “With the reskin complete, we have literally changed the skyline of downtown Norristown. This project adds to the County’s investments within the municipality including the recently completed Lafayette Street Extension Project and the start of the Justice Center and Hancock Square Park expansion.”
Upgrades include a brand new façade to correct for air and water infiltration and replacement of all windows with fixed pane thermal windows for energy efficiency.
“While having a new, modern building is certainly important, our biggest goal was to make the building more welcoming for our residents who visit here to conduct business,” said Kenneth E. Lawrence, Vice Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “As the headquarters of Montgomery County, One Montgomery Plaza is the central place where our departments interact with Montco citizens.”
The One Montgomery County reskin project design process began in 2016 and was completed in May 2021 at a cost of approximately $28 million dollars. Future work on the interior of the building includes a full upgrade of the electrical system. One Montgomery Plaza is located at 425 Swede Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
