Green Lane Park announced today two upcoming outdoor events in June. The public is encouraged to register to attend these upcoming family-friendly events.
Lightning in a Jar - Fireflies
Friday June 25th at 8:30 p.m.
Join us for a closer look at the fascinating firefly, Pennsylvania’s official state insect. We will be catching and enjoying these amazing creatures, and releasing them back into their homes. Bring a plastic container (no glass, please) and a sense of adventure. The program is free, but pre-registration is required. Suitable for ages 4 and up. Call (215) 234-4528 to reserve your space.
Archaeology for Kids - Digging Deeper
Saturday June 26th at 11:00 a.m.
What is Archaeology? Archaeology is an important branch of science where we study human history and prehistory through the excavation and the analysis of artifacts and remains. Excavation is one of the most important methods archaeologists learn. Visitors will learn the technique of excavation, documentation and analysis. Visitors will also be able to experience the thrill of uncovering artifacts in-situ and take some artifacts home. Ages 7-12 with an adult.

ABOUT GREEN LANE PARKGreen Lane Park, in northwestern Montgomery County, offers a variety of year-round, outdoor activities and programs for people to choose from. Park visitors can enjoy fishing, boating (including boat rentals), family and group camping, picnicking, 25 miles of trails for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking, as well as two children’s playgrounds. Winter enthusiasts can cross-country ski, ice fish or go ice skating, weather permitting. The park also offers summer concerts and family-oriented, environmental education programs on weekends. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to sunset.
