2021 Planning Smarter_Banner

Planning Smarter, an initiative of the Montgomery County Planning Commission, provides important information about planning that will enable local leaders and citizens to better plan for the future of their community. All Planning Smarter events are free of charge and open to the general public unless otherwise noted. Details on the events will evolve as the year progresses and we continue to adhere to ongoing pandemic requirements. Our Planning Smarter Montco 2021 series includes three courses and four events.

Courses

The 90-minute virtual courses we have scheduled, each being offered for $25 through the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute (PMPEI), will have Montco instructors/MCPC staff for a local focus. Visit www.training.boroughs.org for registration, payment, and credit information. The courses include:

  • Building a Strong Planning Commission
  • The Limits to Zoning
  • Managing the Subdivision Process

Free Events

Our 2021 events will take a look at some interesting and timely planning issues, especially our Hot Topics event in June, which will focus on some of the effects of the pandemic as well as other topics. These informative, free events are listed below. As usual for will cap off the year with the Montgomery Awards celebration!

  • Happy Trails! Planning and Designing Trails for All Users
  • Hot Topics: Emerging Challenges in Our Communities
  • Soak Up More Stormwater: Partnering with Businesses & Homeowners
  • TOD: A Way to Transform Your Community
