NORRISTOWN, PA – Montgomery County’s
Roads and Bridges Department today released the upcoming inspection schedule for county-owned and maintained bridges. County crews will be conducting pre-inspection bridge work throughout the next year to make minor repairs before formal PennDOT bridge inspection on the dates listed below.
“Our pre-inspection work typically results in some traffic delays,” said Thomas O’Brien, Administrator for Roads and Bridges. “Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work areas because slowdowns may occur.”
The following list shows the bridges and their upcoming inspection due dates. Residents should expect temporary traffic closures and delays while pre-inspection work is conducted during the following months:
April 2021:
- Bridge 77: Plymouth Road over Wissahickon Creek
- Bridge 119: Davis Grove Road over Park Creek
- Bridge 172: Swamp Pike over Minister Creek
- Bridge 166: Swamp Pike over Swamp Creek
May 2021:
- Bridge 6: Mill Creek Road over Mill Creek
June 2021:
- Bridge 275: Waverly Road over Tacony Creek
- Bridge 177: Sterigere Street over Stony Creek
- Bridge 69: Sumneytown Pike over Towmencin Creek
- Bridge 145: Roberts Road over Skippack Creek
- Bridge 162: Stump Road over Little Neshaminy Creek

The work typically is performed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Work on these inspections will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Pennsylvania Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.
The Montgomery County Motor Vehicle Registration Fee provides a dedicated source of funding to continue improving the County’s roads, bridges, and intersections. Since 2012, the County has completed 29 bridge projects. This year, 20 active bridge projects are in design, three underway in construction, and ten anticipated to begin construction.
