NORRISTOWN, PA – Montgomery County officials and the Office of Public Health (OPH) today reported COVID-19 test results and deaths from January 13 to 19, 2021. Over the past week, 2,233 additional people tested positive for coronavirus, and 19 people died of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total to 39,880 cases and 1,099 deaths.

Six of the individuals who died of COVID-19 resided in a long-term care facility. Of the new cases, 74 of the new cases are in long-term care facilities. None of the reported positive COVID-19 cases resulted from antibody testing.

The Montgomery County OPH is vaccinating qualifying healthcare staff at a public vaccination clinic hosted by Montgomery County Community College. Due to the limited supply of vaccine at this time, only people in the CDC defined 1A category who live or work in Montgomery County will be given appointments. Appointment slots are limited and are available by reservation only. Walk-up registration is not accepted. To learn more about the 1A criteria or request an appointment, visit

“We agree that the COVID-19 vaccine should be provided in a way that is ethical, equitable, and efficient. Montgomery County will comply with the newly released PA Department of Health guidelines for Phase 1A including those 65 and older and those ages 16-64 with certain underlying medical conditions,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “With these expanded definitions for the 1A group, we estimate approximately 250,000 additional people will qualify for vaccination in Montgomery County as part of Phase 1A. At this time, we are receiving 5,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine per week and scheduling appointments to match our supply. We continue to ask for people's patience as our supply of vaccine is extremely limited.”

A full breakdown of all Montgomery County COVID-19 cases can be found on the COVID-19 Data Hub. The Hub hosts the County’s COVID-19 maps, data, and charts that show the number of daily cases and deaths related to COVID-19, including hospitalizations and ventilator use. There is also demographic information on cases by age, gender and race.

Facts Not Fear: COVID-19 Vaccines and the Black Community: As Montgomery County continues to roll out COVID-19 vaccine clinics, local leaders are concerned about the lack of trust and resistance to the vaccine across Black communities even though they are three times more likely to die from the virus, due to disparities in healthcare and certain underlying health conditions. Join the Montgomery County Commissioners, the Black Doctors COVID-19 Consortium and other area medical, science, faith and community leaders in an interactive virtual town hall on Thursday, January 21 at 7 p.m. They will share the latest COVID-19 vaccination research, how to stop the spread of the virus, vaccine availability and distribution, and answer your questions and concerns.
