NORRISTOWN, PA – Montgomery County officials and the Office of Public Health (OPH) today reported COVID-19 test results and deaths from November 11 to 17, 2020. An additional 1,828 individuals tested positive for coronavirus, and seven individuals died of COVID-19, bringing the countywide total to 17,132 cases and 854 deaths.

None of the individuals who died of COVID-19 resided in a long-term care facility. Thirty of the new cases are in long-term care facilities. None of the reported positive COVID-19 cases resulted from antibody testing. More information is included in the linked weekly report.

"As our case counts and hospitalizations continue to rise at an extremely rapid pace, I want to remind residents to work at home if they can, to minimize unnecessary trips, and avoid social gatherings,” said Dr. Valerie A. Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “We continue to have strong availability of COVID-19 testing and I want to urge anyone who wants or needs to be tested to get tested. The more we are able to test our community – whether you have symptoms or not – the more we will know what is happening across the County and be able to quickly suppress any outbreaks.”

Virtual School Order: The Montgomery County Board of Health voted on November 13 to require all Montgomery County public and private K-12 schools to move to virtual or remote learning between November 23 and December 6. Health officials at the Montgomery County Office of Public Health and CHOP have determined that the move to virtual instruction is prudent given the current surge in community case counts, which can impact schools and school operations, in addition to an increase in hospitalizations in Montgomery County. The order seeks to prioritize the health and safety of the students, staff, and community.

The Montgomery County Office of Public Health has reviewed the guidelines set by the CDC and has provided guidance to help bring awareness during the holiday season.
