Montgomery County Offices Will Be Closed for Juneteenth

Juneteenth

In observance of and to honor this important day in our nation’s history, all Montgomery County offices, including the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds office, will be closed on Friday, June 19th.

Juneteenth celebrates the commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States, and dates back to 1865. On June 19, 1865, the previously enslaved people in the remote Confederate state of Texas were declared free. On Juneteenth we celebrate, promote and support the knowledge and appreciation of African American history and culture.
