Update Regarding the Coronavirus and the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds Office

To minimize the exposure to the virus for our employees, we have made the decision to suspend our public and title search areas, effective Friday, March 13.

We invite you to access the many services the Recorder of Deeds office offers electronically, by mail, or by phone. By limiting the public’s contact to our office, we hope to minimize the risk of spreading this virus and protect you and our employees.

The Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds accepts recording through the US Postal Service and through our four eRecording partners. eRecording is a cost effective and secure way to record your documents without ever leaving the comfort of your office. Documents are recorded same day or next day through our Public Access System. Learn more about your eRecording options here.

If you are searching for, or need copies of a document, there are multiple ways to obtain documents from our office utilizing our Public Access System. Learn more about obtaining copies from our office here.

  • Have copies mailed to you: To have a document mailed, you must make the request in writing. Please visit our Public Access System to obtain as much information possible to include with your request.
  • Print a Certified Copy: You can print certified copies in PDF format from your computer from our Public Access System.
  • Database Subscription: We offer two subscription options for regular users of our online database - monthly and calendar-day. Learn more about the subscriptions options here.

As a precautionary measure, if you must visit our office, please help us keep our office clean and sanitized.

  • If you are sick, stay home.
  • Please be sure to wash your hands before entering our office. There are lavatories located on the first floor of One Montgomery Plaza, near the elevator bank, and on our floor to the right of our front door.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Hand sanitizer is provided throughout our office.
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue, and discard the tissue immediately.
  • Avoid touching your face – especially your mouth, eyes, and nose.
  • The CDC also provides steps to help prevent illness here.

If you choose to visit to our office, your visit may feel different as we navigate through this time together. Our office will be temporarily moving to a staggered work schedule, and we have implemented an enhanced cleaning protocol that includes disinfection of common areas at least twice daily.

We appreciate your understanding and assistance in helping us minimize the spread of COVID-19 and keeping everyone healthy. This is an evolving situation, and we will update you via e-mail and on our social media pages as there are changes.

 Thank you,

Jeanne Sorg
