Norristown, January 9, 2018; Jeanne Sorg, Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds, was pleased to appear on Comcast Newsmakers recently to tout her successful Veterans' Discount ID Program. Since its inception, 7,500 Montgomery County veterans have recorded their discharge papers with the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds office. By recording their DD-214 locally, Montgomery County veterans are able to have same-day access to the document should they need it.
"Only about 100 veterans a year were recording their dishcharge paperwork prior to this program," said Sorg, "and in 2016 and 2017 we served over 2500 veterans."
Veterans receive a Photo Discount ID Card upon recording their discharge, which they can show at almost 500 businesses around the county to receive a discount. These participating vendors include legal and financial services, hardware stores, restaurants and gyms.
The Recorder of Deeds office relies on donations to support the Veterans Discount ID Program.
Thank you to the vendors and contributors who make this program possible and to our Montgomery County veterans for their service!
