Hurricane Ida Disaster Recovery Action Plan and Public Meeting
Tuesday, November 29, 2022
The United States Congress, following disaster declarations by Governor Tom Wolf and President Joe Biden, has allocated $23.152 million to assist the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in rebuilding and recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Ida. The State is required to submit an Action Plan to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) detailing how these funds are to be used.
A Draft of the Plan has been developed, identifying the unmet needs remaining in the affected communities, and has proposed activities, projects, and programs to build back better in use of these funds. In order to ensure that this plan accurately reflects the needs and visions of those affected, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development will be hosting virtual public hearings on November 15th, November 17th and November 29th.
Organizations and individuals are encouraged to participate to provide feedback and ask any questions they may have regarding the contents of the plan. The Draft Action Plan will also be posted on the Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED) website by November 12, for public review.
The final Action Plan will be submitted to HUD on January 31, 2023. At least one in-person public hearing is required before the submittal. A date and time for the in-person hearing will be posted and published once finalized.
The upcoming virtual hearings will be hosted through Microsoft Teams. Details for accessing the meetings are outlined below. Please note that you do not need to have previous access to Microsoft Teams in order to attend these meetings.
