Advisory Council to Senior Services
The Advisory Council to the Montgomery County Office on Senior Services advocates on behalf of older adults and low income or disabled Montgomery County residents between the ages of 18 and 59.

Agricultural Land Preservation Board
The Agricultural Land Preservation Board meets to prioritize farmland for preservation and to negotiate values with farm owners.

Board of Assessment Appeals
The Board of Assessment Appeals values and assesses all real estate for county, municipal, and school tax purpose, aiming to provide efficient and accurate information to both the taxpayers and taxing authorities of Montgomery County.

Board of Elections
The Montgomery County Election Board is responsible for Election Administration in Montgomery County and normally consists of the three County Commissioners. The Election Board is supported by the employees of the Voter Services Department and works closely with the Director of Elections.

Board of Health
The Montgomery County Board of Health handles all health related issues that may arise in the county.

Board of Managers of the Youth Center
The Board of Managers is responsible for the management of the Montgomery County Youth Center, a 48-bed coed residential facility where 10- to 18-year-old juveniles reside while they are awaiting juvenile court hearings. The primary objective of the Board is to provide for the physical and emotional well-being of all residents through a safe and secure environment, psychological/medical diagnostics, and treatment.

Board of Prison Inspectors
The Montgomery County Board of Prison Inspectors tours the Montgomery County Correctional Facility for regular monthly inspections. The inspections guarantee each inmate is present and provided necessary care, all complaints are recorded, safety and fire code regulations are met, and facility maintenance is upheld.

Board of Trustees of the Community College
The Board of Trustees of Montgomery County Community College operates as the institution’s legal governing body. The Board establishes policies for operation and promotes the College’s Mission to offer a high-quality, affordable, accessible education that leads to relevant, rewarding transfer and career opportunities.

Citizens Advisory Committee
The Citizens Advisory Committee assists the executive director and county commissioners in ensuring the safety and well-being of Montgomery County children and their families.

Conservation District
Montgomery County is a designated conservation district and, therefore, responsible for the conservation of the soil, water, and other resources of Pennsylvania. The Soil Conservation District is a local unit of government that ensures the control of floods, prevention of soil erosion, implementation of storm water management, and preserves the quality of dams, reservoirs, harbors, air, wildlife, and public land.

Criminal Justice Advisory Board
The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners established the Montgomery County Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB) on June 12, 2008. The mission of the Montgomery County CJAB is to examine and address criminal justice issues fom a systemic and policy perspective and recommend ways in which public safety agencies and private organizations can efficiently, effectively, and collaboratively deliver criminal justice programs throughout those communities encompassed by Montgomery County.

Delaware Valley Regional Finance Authority
The Delaware Valley Regional Finance Authority is a Joint Authority Local Government Unit consisting of Delaware County, Bucks County, Chester County and Montgomery County for the undertaking of projects.

Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission
The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the nine-county region including, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia in Pennsylvania; and Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer in New Jersey. The primary objective of the DVRPC is to foster prospering communities through transportation, environmental protection, and economic development.

Drug & Alcohol Planning Council
An 11-member citizen advisory board is appointed by the County Commissioners to serve a 3-year term, with the intent of ensuring that residents have a way to participate in the planning of services.

Emergency Dispatch Radio Committee
The Emergency Dispatch Radio Committee allows for users to provide input on their future needs from the Montgomery County radio system.

Emergency Services Advisory Committee
The Emergency Medical Services Advisory Committee assists the County office of EMS by reviewing policies and procedures prior to implementation and coordinating different organizations and elements of the EMS system.

Family Justice Advisory Board
The Family Justice Advisory Board (FJAB) of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, the second board of its kind in Pennsylvania, was established by the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in October 2018. The mission of the FJAB is to examine and address family court issues from a systemic and policy perspective and recommend ways in which the court, public agencies, and private organizations can efficiently, effectively, and collaboratively improve the process, programs and institutions. In turn, the Board makes recommendations to the court, public policy boards and agencies that affect family law in Montgomery County.

Fire Advisory Committee
The Fire Advisory Committee provides advice to the Director of Public Safety on fire service plans, supports training program evaluation efforts, oversees repairs to the Montgomery County Fallen Firefighter Memorial, and promotes the Fire Academy Training programs and ensures their quality.

Housing Authority
The Montgomery County Housing Authority provides housing and home-ownership opportunities for low and moderate income persons and families. The Housing Authority focuses on ensuring safe housing, encouraging self-sufficiency and fiscal responsibility, and respecting the dignity of all Montgomery County Residents.

Industrial Development Authority
The Industrial Development Authority guarantees the promotion, rehabilitation, and revitalization of industry, manufacturing, and research and development in Montgomery County in order to maintain high levels of employment and create new business opportunities.

Local Emergency Planning Committee
The Local Emergency Planning Committee prepares emergency response plans for all SAERA TITLE III facilities in Montgomery County, establishes procedures for hazardous material responses, and publishes an annual notice for public information processes for the general public.

Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities
The Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Board offers programs to eligible Montgomery County citizens, including mental health counseling, Health Choices funding assistance, and early intervention coordination for children experiencing delays in growth.

Mill Grove Board
The Mill Grove Board advises the National Audubon Society on the operations, programs, and budgetary plans for the John James Audubon Center. The Board ensures the Center remains a site for conservation, premier art, and environmental education.

Montgomery County Transportation Authority
The Montgomery County Transportation Authority addresses transportation improvement issues, excluding mass transit.

Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library Board
The Norristown Public Library Board manages the business of the Library including developing policies, preparing the budget, and acquiring property for or by the Library.

Open Space Board
The Open Space Board reviews open space grant applications and makes recommendations to the county commissioners for open space acquisition and preservation.

Parks, Trails & Historic Sites Advisory Board
The Parks, Trails & Historic Sites Advisory Board assists and advises the Commissioners and Deputy Director in providing leading natural, recreational, and historical sites that give the County an exceptional visitor experience, encouraging respect for natural and cultural resources.

Planning Commission Board
The Montgomery County Planning Commission is responsible for preparing a comprehensive plan for the development of the County, advising the Commissioners on the adoption of an official map, presenting environmental studies/water surveys to the County, and recommending capital improvement programs.

Public Defender Advisory Board
Duties and responsibilities of the Montgomery County Public Defender Advisory Board include playing the primary role in appointing the Chief Public Defender for the County. In addition, the Advisory Board supports the successful operation of the Office of the Public Defender and provide input on policy, priorities, and legislation that impact the justice system. The Advisory Board will also identify opportunities to advance equity in the criminal justice system on the local, state, and federal levels and serve as a resource hub and informational clearinghouse for all attorneys in the county who have an indigent defense practice.

Redevelopment Authority
The Redevelopment Authority of the County of Montgomery assists the County’s townships and boroughs in stimulating economic revitalization and aiding in the provision of affordable housing through applications to state and federal sources. The Redevelopment Authority fosters public/private partnerships for economic growth within the County.

SEPTA Board
The SEPTA Board is the governing and policymaking body of SEPTA. Responsibilities of the SEPTA Board include crafting SEPTA programs, preparing capital budgets, and reviewing SEPTA’s services, utilization of technology, and organizational structure.

SEPTA Citizens Advisory Board
The SEPTA Citizens Advisory Committee acts as an independent representative and advocate for the users of public transportation in the Southeastern Pennsylvania region. The Citizen Advisory Committee ensures SEPTA’s cleanliness, frequency, speed, and safety.

Suburban Transit Network Inc.
The Suburban Transit Network Inc. aims to create access to community resources and employment by consistently providing safe, cost effective, and reliable transportation for residents of Montgomery County.

Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board
The Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board is a private, non-profit membership sales and marketing organization which actively promotes the Valley Forge area and Montgomery County as a convention site and visitor destination by promoting patronage of its member hotels, restaurants, attractions and services.

Workforce Development Board (MontcoWorks)
The Workforce Development Board administers workforce programming that is designed to meet the diverse needs of employers and job seekers in Montgomery County.

Youth Committee
The Youth Committee, a subset of the Local Workforce Development Board (MontcoWorks), serves the needs of local youth, by fostering employment and training programs and linking the community to organizations serving local youth.
