Planning Courses

We offer municipal training to our 62 municipalities by sponsoring planning courses. These in-depth courses are designed to primarily help municipal planners, planning commission members, and other local officials understand and accomplish the responsibilities involved with their role in the community. 

About the Courses

The courses were developed by the Pennsylvania Planning Association (PPA) and Penn State Extension Service through their training agency, the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute (PMPEI), and are taught by certified PMPEI instructors. Each course is taught in three sessions. Courses are limited to 25 persons, and preregistration is required. The registration fee is $110 per person. Municipal officials and staff from municipalities with a current planning assistance contract with MCPC are eligible for a discounted rate of $90 (click here to view eligible municipalities).

Registration Payment

The registration payment is due on the first session of a course. Payment by credit card is not available at this time. A check, made payable to Montgomery County Treasurer, may be sent prior to the course at the mailing address below or brought to the first session of the course. The registration fee also may be paid in exact cash at the first session. We will invoice your community/business/organization if needed. Continuing Education Credits

The PMPEI is an approved provider of continuing education credits for a variety of entities. Click here for credit information. Fees, in addition to the course registration fee, apply to those seeking continuing education credit. Payment for the credits is handled by the PMPEI.
