Visitation

Guidelines and Rules

Visiting for parents/guardians is scheduled through each resident’s assigned caseworker.  Scheduling visits has allowed more flexibility for each parent/guardian than set visiting hours.  Two visits per week are permitted for each resident.  Residents are also permitted, in addition to the 2 weekly visits, to visit with their parent/guardian following a Court Hearing.

A farewell visit is routinely granted by the Youth Center to siblings or residents who require placement away from home. Clergy, probation officers and attorneys may visit at any time, although it is requested that advance notice be given. Visiting rules are explained beforehand to all visitors.

All visitors must have a photo ID and must pass through a metal detector prior to their visit. Cell phones, purses, tobacco products, matches, lighters, or other contraband may not be brought into the building.

When parents come to the center for the first time they should bring with them the following:

  • Child's Social Security card or a copy of his/her Social Security number
  • Copy of the child’s immunization records if available, copies can be made at the center
  • Name and phone number of the family doctor and dentist
  • Photo ID of anyone permitted to visit the child
  • Medical insurance card

Secure Detention Visitation

Only parents and guardians may visit residents of Secure Detention.

Shelter Visitation

In the shelter, parents and immediate family (siblings, grandparents, etc.) may visit.
