Green Lane Park Master Plan

Project Purpose

Montgomery County Division of Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites is developing a Master Plan Update of the 3400-acre Green Lane Park. The 16-month long public planning process began in January 2023 and will conclude in April 2024.

The planning team will create a master plan for the protection and enhancement of Green Lane Park to guide the County over the next 15 to 20 years.

Simone Collins Landscape Architecture of Norristown is lead consultant and is being assisted by Resource Environmental Services, Seiler + Drury Architects and Patrick Stasio, CPRP. GLPMP-Webiste-CoverPhoto

The team will uncover the community’s vision for Green Lane Park while exploring opportunities for: enhanced environmental stewardship; new recreational facilities; additional land preservation and protection; additional universally-accessible facilities; and accommodating programs that will meet community needs. The plan will also establish priorities, actions, and cost estimates.

The Master Plan project is partially funded by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnership Program administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.

Public participation is a major part of this planning process. The County is encouraging all interested citizens to participate in the creation of the plan.

How to Participate

Public participation includes:

  • four (4) public meetings
  • an online survey
  • an interactive web-based maps called WikiMap
  • i-naturalist data input
  • eBird data input

All of these tools offer opportunities for participants to provide planners with valuable data.

The public is also being asked to review the Draft Plan in December 2023. Please see below more details for each of the ways to participate in the master plan process.

Attend Public Meetings

The four (4) public meetings will be “hybrid”, held both in-person and virtually. If you would like to receive public meeting reminders and updates regarding the master plan process, please sign up here.

Take the survey by clicking here. The survey will be available from Monday, March 6, 2023, until Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

Access the Interactive WikiMap

This interactive online tool allows participants to draw on a map of Green Lane Park to describe existing conditions and/or suggest the placement of trails and other park improvements. Map users can see what others have suggested so that new ideas can build from the ideas of other participants. Photographs of the park can also be uploaded to the site.

Use the Wikimap tool by clicking here. The WikiMap will be available from Monday, March 6, 2023, until Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

All input and comments from the WikiMap will be accessible for review in the Final Report.

iNaturalist

This phone app allows participants to identify plants, insects and animals within Green Lane Park.

Download the iNaturalist app by clicking here. This tool is always available; however, that last day park data will be reviewed for the project will be on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

All data collected from iNaturalist will be accessible for review via the application.

eBird

All data collected from eBird will be accessible for review via the application.

Review the Steering Committee Meeting Notes
