Brief description
Montgomery County’s Qi Gong Circle is easily spotted from the Schuylkill River Trail or Lafayette Street in Norristown and features a large, mulched circle surrounded by boulders. Eight Qi Gong stations are within the circle, with bilingual instructions in English and Spanish on either side of wooden posts, allowing more than one person to participate at a time. This series of eight movements and stretches was developed in China in the early 12th century.
Qi Gong, pronounced “chee gong”, can improve mental and physical health through exercises that combine the mind, body, and spirit. Similar to Tai Chi, Qi Gong is a series of movements done with the intention of benefiting a part of the body, such as the lungs or kidneys.
Be sure to let us know you visited by scanning the QR codes posted on the "Eight Brocades of QiGong" Instructions sign. Qi Gong is a great stand-alone exercise routine or a compliment to your existing trail activities.
