Closure/Expect Delays: Sterigere Street in Norristown

Construction began on Monday, March 6, to replace County bridge 177 to improve mobility and safety on Sterigere Street between Stanbridge Street and Harding Boulevard in the Municipality of Norristown, Montgomery County.

Under this contract, Montgomery County’s construction contractor will remove and replace the entire existing bridge structure and approaches over Stony Creek to allow for corridor and waterway improvements. This will eliminate the current weight posting of the bridge and improve safety along the corridor and waterway.

Motorists are advised of a road closure is scheduled on Sterigere Street between Stanbridge Street and Harding Boulevard for replacement of existing bridge through January 2024. Please allow extra time when traveling through the area because backups and delays may occur. A temporary Pedestrian Bridge has been erected to maintain the walkability of the area.

Due to the nature of construction and closure of the bridge, a detour has been established. Motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour route via Stanbridge Street, Marshall Street, Markley Street and Harding Boulevard.
