Montgomery County contracts with agencies to offer a variety of mental health services to individuals who have Medical Assistance or are un- or underinsured. Below is a brief description of the services provided through contracted agencies. Crisis & Emergency
Montgomery County residents have access to mobile crisis management services, as well as emergency psychiatric services for serious and potentially life-threatening situations.
Treatment Services
Treatment services include inpatient/hospital and outpatient (for example: therapy, counseling, peer support, case management, groups).
Mobile Supports
Montgomery County residents have access to a variety of mobile support options, all of which are designed to support the participant in the most community-oriented way possible in order to achieve their recovery goals.
Advocacy
Advocacy organizations provide information, education, training, counseling, and mediating, in order to raise awareness of a participant’s concerns and ultimately help them achieve positive outcomes.
Criminal Justice
The Department has developed a partnership with the criminal justice system to reach a unified goal of diverting individuals with serious mental illness from correctional institutions into more appropriate treatment and support services.
Employment/Education
Career centers provide interventions that help in getting and keeping a job (“supported employment”) or achieving educational goals (“supported education”).
Peer Support
Peer support is a person-centered, recovery-focused service that is provided by a self-identified current or former participant in behavioral health services known as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS).
Recovery Coaching Case Management
Recovery Coaching is an enhanced form of case management. The program participant and recovery coach (case manager) work together to connect to resources, engage in treatment and support services, and learn/practice the skills needed for independence.
Residential Services
Residential programs offer a continuum of supportive services, ranging from secured treatment settings to supported living arrangements, in order to prepare residents with the skills, supports, and resources necessary to maintain their own independent community housing.
