Model Ordinance Series
MCPC has created an award-winning model ordinance series. Some of the ordinances listed below were developed to address specific stormwater management concerns associated with land use or development. While others may not have stormwater as the main subject, they can still help a municipality manage stormwater thorugh ordinance requirements that result in large areas of open space or reduced impervious surfaces.
- Guidebook for Creating a Municipal TDR Program
- Land Preservation District (Update)
- Protecting People and Resources – Floodplain Ordinance
- Riparian Corridor Conservation District Model Ordinance
- Protecting Natural, Scenic, and Historic Resources – Rural Residential District Model Ordinance
- New Town Mixed Use District Model Ordinance
- Creating a Small-Town Character – Village Mixed Use District
- Creating a Village Community – Village Residential District Model Ordinance
Stormwater Best Management Practices Series
The activities described in this series are known as Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs). These
BMPs can be easily duplicated by businesses, institutions, and residential property owners. The series highlights examples of stormwater projects the county has undertaken in its parks.
