“Holiday Craft Workshops”
Green Lane Park
Join us for a special holiday craft workshop at the park. Participants can choose from an number of craft projects including pine-cone wreaths, a holiday centerpiece, Woodland Critters, a holiday wall-hanging and more. NO previous crafting experience needed, our expert volunteers will guide you through the process, and you will be thrilled with what you create! Program is suitable for ages 12 to adult only. There is a materials fee of $10 per workshop. Spaces limited, call (610) 287-6970 to reserve your spaces.

Waterfowl migration will be in full swing now. Bring your binoculars and get a close up view of these majestic birds as they travel south for the season. We will be travelling by car to 3 different hotspots within Green Lane Park. Ages 12 and up, pre-registration required. Meet at Tennis Court parking lot. Winter Tree ID Made Easy

Don’t know winter trees without their leaves? Join us on a guided walk to learn tips and tricks for winter tree identification. We will use bark, twigs, buds, and fruit as clues to tree ID. “ Groundhog Day” Story time with Ranger Dan

Join us for a brand new offering for kids and their grown-ups, as we present a special program to celebrate Groundhog Day. Park Ranger Dan Diehl will be sharing stories and other kid-friendly activities to celebrate the Groundhog. Program will meet at the Deep Creek Stone Lodge, and is suitable for preschool through 2nd graders with an adult. Program is free, but pre-registration required. Many of the park’s wild inhabitants are seldom seen, but very much active in winter. Join us in a search for the “signs and signatures” left behind by some of our wild creatures. The spring migration of ducks, geese and swans will be underway at this time. Join us in a search for early migrants and resident birds at the Green Lane Park Important Bird Area. You will quickly learn why the park is one of Eastern Pennsylvania’s premier birding sites! Suitable for ages 12 to adult. Dress for the weather (including muddy ground), bring binoculars and meet at Tennis Court parking lot. (2298 Green Lane Road, Green Lane PA 18054). Pre-registration suggested.

Maple Sugar Magic

Join us as we explore the magic of Maple Sugaring time, now in our 35th year at Green Lane Park ! We will demonstrate tree-tapping and sap gathering, the boiling of sap to make syrup, and learn about the discovery of maple sugar dating back to the 1500’s. Pure Pennsylvania maple syrup, candy and cream will be available for sale. The program is free, and suitable for all ages. Meet at Hill Road Day Use Area (2198 Hill Road, Green Lane, PA 18054).

“Color Your Eggs- Naturally”

Looking for an alternative to chemical food-coloring tablets to color your Easter Eggs? Join us as we color eggs like our grandparents did, using materials from nature. You will be surprised and delighted with your results!
Bring a dozen hard-boiled eggs, and $5.00 materials fee per dozen.

“Hike ‘Round the Reservoir”

Join Rangers Renner and Higgins for a guided loop hike of the Reservoir. This loop hike is 12.5 miles round trip. This is a moderate to hard level loop. Experience preferred. Suitable for adults only. Along the way check out some spring wildflowers and learn about some Green Lane History. Pack a lunch and bring water. We’ll stop for lunch at the Red Trail Gazebo. “Earth Day Work-day in the Park”

Come celebrate Earth Day in the Park with a morning of volunteer work. We will be removing/killing invasive vines and shrubs that threaten the park’s biodiversity. Wear work clothes and bring heavy-duty gloves and safety glasses so we can all do our part to beautify Green Lane Park! Pre-register by calling (610) 287-6970. Ages 12 and up. Join Rangers in the park for a talk and guided hike on some of the geology of Montgomery County's protected lands and the Southeastern region of PA. Program with cover the rock formations of the park, types of rock you can expect to see on the trails, and the history of the park's geomorphology. Ages 12 and up. “Full Moon Hike”

Experience Green Lane Park after dark! Join Park Ranger B.J. Enright for an evening hike as we walk to an elevated vantage point to greet the rising of June’s “Strawberry Moon”! During this approximately 2.5 mile (round trip) hike we will experience an elevation change of 160 feet, while sticking to well-worn trails. Bring your hiking shoes and flashlight, and bone up on your lunar knowledge as there will be a contest! Amateur astronomers will join us to provide lunar expertise and telescopic views of the moon and other celestial objects. This program is free, but pre-registration is required. “Creek Critters”

Join us for a knee-deep and up-close look at life in the Perkiomen Creek. Using nets, pans and magnifiers, we will examine the diverse creatures that make their home in moving waters.
