Each new staff member goes through a week-long orientation program designed to give an in-depth overview of our office and the Montgomery County Criminal Justice System.
Each new attorney is required to join our young lawyers group, led by the Chief of Trials. The YLD group, which meets twice each month, is a fantastic opportunity for our young lawyers to get to know each other, discuss their cases, brainstorm, and learn effective trial technique and strategy.
Periodically, an attorney will submit a case for review by a committee comprised of other seasoned attorneys. The case review committee reviews the case in-depth and meets with that attorney to discuss investigative, pre-trial, trial and sentencing strategy. These meetings are open to newer lawyers who get to observe and contribute to the discussion.
This is a week-long program designed to teach trial skills, which includes sessions covering the initial client meeting, discovery, brainstorming theories, jury selection, preparing opening and closing remarks, direct examination and cross-examination.
Pennsylvania requires that attorneys complete 12 CLE credits per year, to include (2) ethics hours. We plan and host three to five CLE programs per year to assist our attorneys in meeting their yearly CLE requirements.
