Molds can be found indoors and outdoors as they are part of the natural environment. Molds grow best in warm, damp, humid conditions. If mold is growing somewhere in the home, it is important to find the source of the moisture. Currently there are no federal regulations or standards regarding mold. Since federal limits have not been set for mold or mold spores, sampling cannot be used to check a building's compliance with federal standards.
If you rent and feel your property owner/landlord is not addressing your concerns about mold, contact your local code enforcement officer from the municipality in which you reside.
