For remodeling or demolition projects be aware that asbestos was a popular a fire-proofing material that was used in roofing products as well as other commercial and consumer products from the 1920's to the 1980's at which time it was banned by the EPA. If you removed a very small quantity, you may double wrap in plastic trash bags and put in the trash or check with a Construction & Demolition facility.
